Canada Visitor Visas

Canada Visitor Visas

Overview:  Canada welcomes millions each year — but entry isn’t automatic. A visitor visa is your official permission slip, proving you meet the rules and intend to leave on time. Get it right, and the maple leaf opens its doors.

People without Canadian citizenship, or other visa, to be in Canada require a visa to visit Canada (unless exempt).  A visit visa to Canada allows a temporary stay, usually for up to six months (as a tourist) but up to ten months for a parent or grandparent of a Canadian).

TRAVEL WARNINGS OF CANADA

  • Winter weather is severe in many areas. Snowstorms and icy roads can cause travel delays. Carry emergency supplies in your car.
  • Wildlife can be dangerous in parks and rural areas. Keep distance from bears, moose, and other animals. Store food securely when camping.
  • Petty crime like pickpocketing happens in busy cities and tourist spots. Watch your belongings on public transport and in crowds.
  • Some remote areas have limited cell service and medical care. Plan ahead and tell someone your route before hiking or driving in isolated regions.
  • Wildfire smoke affects air quality in summer, especially in western provinces. Check local alerts if you have breathing issues.
