Pickpocketing and bag theft happen in Budapest and tourist areas. Be careful on public transport, at markets, and in crowded places.
Taxi and restaurant scams target tourists. Use licensed taxis and check menus for prices before ordering food or drinks.
Drink spiking has been reported in bars and nightclubs. Do not leave your drink unattended and only accept drinks from trusted staff.
Demonstrations occur in city centers, especially in Budapest. They can block roads and transport. Avoid large crowds.
Road conditions vary outside main cities. Some rural roads are poorly lit. Drive carefully at night and watch for pedestrians.
