TRAVEL WARNINGS OF FINLAND

• Winter weather is extreme with snow, ice, and very cold temperatures. Roads can be dangerous. Dress in warm layers and drive carefully.
• Daylight hours are very short in winter and long in summer. Plan activities around limited light in December and January.
• Ticks are common in forests and grassy areas from spring to autumn. They can carry disease. Use insect repellent and check your body after hiking.
• Slippery sidewalks cause falls in winter. Wear shoes with good grip or ice cleats to avoid injury.
• Petty theft can happen in busy tourist areas and on public transport. Keep your belongings close in Helsinki and at train stations.
