TRAVEL WARNINGS OF CYPRUS

• Cyprus is divided into Republic of Cyprus and Turkish-controlled northern area. You cannot cross the border at all points. Use official checkpoints only.
• Petty theft occurs in tourist areas and on beaches. Do not leave valuables unattended and keep hotel rooms locked.
• Traffic accidents are common. Roads can be narrow and drivers may speed. Drive on the left side and be careful on rural roads.
• Strong currents and rip tides happen at some beaches. Swim only in areas with lifeguards and follow warning flags.
• Unexploded landmines remain near the buffer zone. Do not enter marked areas or pick up unknown objects.
