  • Pickpocketing and bag theft happen in Budapest and tourist areas. Be careful on public transport, at markets, and in crowded places.
  • Taxi and restaurant scams target tourists. Use licensed taxis and check menus for prices before ordering food or drinks.
  • Drink spiking has been reported in bars and nightclubs. Do not leave your drink unattended and only accept drinks from trusted staff.
  • Demonstrations occur in city centers, especially in Budapest. They can block roads and transport. Avoid large crowds.
  • Road conditions vary outside main cities. Some rural roads are poorly lit. Drive carefully at night and watch for pedestrians.
