A Business Visit Visa is generally for people to travel to Australia for business purposes, such as to attend conferences, or negotiate business.  People from certain countries can apply for an Electronic Travel Authority (Eta) visa for short stay or long stay.  Citizens of Sri Lanka and some other countries are not eligible for Etas.

As the previous category knowns as the Business (Short Stay) visa is currently closed, applicants should apply for a Temporary Work (Short Stay Activity) visa (Subclass 400).

This visa is for short-term highly specialized work or special circumstances,

  • have specialized skills, knowledge or experience that can assist Australian business
  • have been invited to participate in an event by an organization in Australia or
  • be required in Australia for exceptional circumstances of national importance, such as to assist following a natural disaster

The visa must be applied for from outside Australia and is valid for up to three months.
