The 457 visa entitles a skilled worker to work in Australis with sponsorship by an approved employer.  Businesses /employers can sponsor an applicant where they cannot find suitable Australian visa holders for skilled work.

  • be nominated to work in an appropriate occupation on the Skilled Occupation Lists
  • meet the skill requirements for the nominated occupation
  • meet registration and licensing obligations
  • speak vocational English have been nominated by an approved business

The 457 visa is a temporary visa valid for up to four years and permits the successful applicant to live in Australia to work for the sponsoring employer.  Immediate family members (spouse and children) can also go as dependent; spouses may work in any job and children may attend school in Australia.
