There are more than 10,000 caves in Slovenia. The best known, Postojna, runs for around 20 km and is on the World Heritage List. Krizna Jama Cave has a reputation as one of Europe’s underground natural wonders.

- Roads can be icy and slippery in winter. Drive carefully and use winter tires from November to March.
- Avalanches are a risk in alpine areas during winter and spring. Follow local warnings and stick to marked trails.
