TRAVEL WARNINGS OF MALTA

  • Strong currents and sudden drop-offs occur at some beaches. Swim only in areas with lifeguards and follow warning flags.
  • Pickpocketing happens in busy tourist areas and on buses. Keep your belongings secure in Valletta, Sliema, and St. Julian’s.
  • Summer heat can be extreme from June to September. Drink water often, use sunscreen, and avoid outdoor activity midday.
  • Driving is on the left and roads can be narrow. Be careful on rural roads and watch for aggressive drivers.
  • Cliff edges and coastal paths can be unstable. Stay on marked trails and do not get too close to the edge for photos.
